Alex moment

Yesterday morning before the sun had risen, Alex climbed into our bed and made himself comfortable right up next to me. We laid there for a while, his eyes closed. After a while, he lifted his head and noticed his dad was on the other side of me. He climbed right over me and cuddled up to Alan. Suddenly he was wide awake and looked at Alan and said, "Let's go play catch, dad!"

Oh I love Alex. And I can totally identify with that moment. Last time H did that, I think he actually SAID he loved daddy more (he took it back when daddy said we all love each other the same or something). I just took a minute to catch up on your life. I miss you so much. And H has said, I think every day for the last 5 days (I think it started Sun. with "I miss Alex and you miss Christie"), how much he misses Alex. Tonight in the bath tub he took a drink out of a gross tubby cup (I don't know how many times I've told him yuck, don't do that) and then he said "I can drink out of a hose. I can drink out of Alex's hose. But not anymore because it's too far away. (he asked earlier in the day, out of blue, "Is AZ very far away?") I used to drink out of Alex's fireman hose when we played in his pool. Did he take his fire hose with him? probably. Alex is my best friend." And not that I want somebody to take Alex's place, but it kinda made me wish somebody could.
